Criminal Appeals

New York State and Federal Appeals Lawyer

If you or a loved one has been convicted of a crime, it does not mean that your fight is over. You may have the right to appeal your conviction and seek to have it overturned or be granted a new trial. Appeals may take place in either state or federal court, depending on whether you were convicted of a state or federal crime. In either case, you need an appeals lawyer who understands the system to set forth the best possible argument for your case.

Saratoga Springs Appeals Attorney. We Appeal All Decisions

Regardless of what type of crime you have been convicted of, we are willing to fight for you. At The Law Offices of Gerard V. Amedio, we will handle appeals for any conviction in any court, whether family or criminal, federal or state.

If you have been convicted of a sexual offense, you will be required to register as a sex offender. New York defines sex offender status by three different levels. If you are designated as a level III sex offender, you will be listed in a sex offender registry for life; you must verify your address with law enforcement every 90 days, and have a photograph taken yearly at your local police station. We will appeal your categorization to help minimize the consequences.

Do Not Delay in Appeals From Family Court

All appeals must be made within a certain amount of time. Some courts give you a longer time to appeal than others. If you have had a judgment issued against you in family court, such as a domestic abuse restraining order, you are only given 30 days to appeal. It is absolutely important to have an experienced trial attorney on your side as soon as possible.
